The 261 natural attractions for the New 7 Wonders of Nature were announced this morning; Internet voting for the semifinalists will commence between now and July 7.

Nature has inspired a number of innovations in nearly every industry. From interior design and fashion to science, technology and jewelry, manmade improvements upon animals and nature are widespread. The popularity of the New 7 Wonders of Nature further demonstrates our fascination with this blend between human and natural innovation.

Some of the locations in the running for the New 7 Wonders of Nature include Lake Superior, the Matterhorn, the Grand Canyon, Loch Ness, and Dinosaur Provincial Park in Alberta.
