For creatives of all kinds, tapping into an endless source of inspiration can be quite the challenge; the Mystery Box Playing Cards hopes to help with that. Based off of famed American producer and director J.J. Abrams' own intimate experience, which he detailed in a recent TED Talk, it brings some much needed mystery into people's lives by way of a handcrafted lockbox made out of 100-year-old reclaimed wood and 12 decks of playing cards.
Interestingly, the letter that accompanies the Mystery Box Playing Cards leaves it up to the new owner whether or not he or she wants to open it. Abrams' himself kept the lockbox his grandfather gave to him closed to better let his imagination soar. Proceeds go to 826 National, a non-profit organization that promotes literacy and creative writing.
