xMEMS Labs, a Santa California, California-based company that is devoted to leveraging the latest and greatest in semiconductor technology to elevate microspeaker products, is all set to usher in a new era for on-the-go audiophiles with the avent of high-tech microspeakers that make use of silicone.
The advantage of using silicon in the microspeakers revolves around the fact that this material is said to be significantly more stuff than plastic and paper elements used in many typical listening devices. Not only does this result in faster response times, but it also results in improved sound clarity in the mid and high frequency ranges. What's more, the speakers is exceptionally lightweight at only 56 milligrams and measures a single millimeter in terms of thickness.
"Unlike conventional coil speakers, our speakers are monolithic, with silicon membranes offering far better material stiffness and exponentially faster impulse response than conventional speakers, resulting in the superior sound performance of xMEMS Solid-State Fidelity technologies," pointed out Mike Housholder, vice-president of marketing and business development at xMEMS Labs.
