In what must be music to Steve Jobs’ ears, a disheartened Zune user is suing Microsoft for forcing too much music into his ear, claiming that his Zune caused his ears irreparable damage.

This comes days after some Apple users reported that the new iPod classic 1.1 firmware update is causing their iPods to send electrical pulses through the headphone jack and docking port, even when the units are turned off. Misery loves company!

Joel Geddis, naive enough to adopt Microsoft’s first Zune in 2006 claims that, while enjoying some tunes, his Zune reset and blasted his ears at full volume. Geddis’ lawyers are looking for victims of similar Zune attacks to make this a class-action case.

I received an electric shock through the earbuds of my Microsoft Zune. Simultaneously, the Zune emitted a very loud noise through the earbuds and the device began to reset...Since the incident, I've suffered blood and fluid leakage from my ear canal, a temporary threshold shift, and incessant ringing and discomfort (blog.wired)
