The FENIX Continence Restoration System is an implantable device that makes use of high-tech magnetic beads to prevent embarrassing episodes of accidental bowel leakage caused by fecal incontinence.

Developed by Torax Medical and tested at the Mayo Clinic, the FENIX Continence Restoration System takes the form of a string of magnetically charged titanium beads. When secured in place, the magnetic beads close off the patient's bowel canal in order to prevent accidental leakage. However, once the patient applies healthy and normal amounts of how abdominal pressure, the beads get pushed apart so bowel movements can resume.

Fecal incontinence is a widespread and extremely embarrassing condition, but the FENIX Continence Restoration System helps patients achieve a semblance of normalcy in their bowel movements so that they can improve their physical and mental well-being.
