Coil + Drift Introduces the Loon Lighting Collection

Coil + Drift launches its new Loon lighting collection which is the first range that is designed and entirely built in-house from the ideation process to production. The idea stems from the fixtures that are rooted in the Catskill Mountains and are also where all of the brand's lighting is produced now.
The Loon means to be a representation of what design language driven by a place is for. The first few sketches of the collection are influenced by owl wings, dry seeds, and leaves. These are then transformed into sand-cast structures that are made by local metal forge. Founder of the brand John Sorensen-Jolink describes the collection as "an exploration of what it’s been like to live close to nature in a community that still values and honors craft."
