NeuronaLab Renovates a Former Studio Loft into a Two-Bedroom

Spanish architecture studio NeuronaLab was tasked with renovating a studio loft in the Polblenou neighborhood in Barcelona, and the practice embraced a divided floorplan with a strikingly sculptural light blue staircase. The owner owned the unit for about 10 years and since his partner moved in during the pandemic, the couple needed to optimize the space a bit more. NeuronaLab was called in to create a two-bedroom apartment out of the single loft. As the Loft was already compact, the renovated living space needed to have storage, as well as "a separate, dedicated workspace."
The light blue staircase is surely a centerpiece in this renovation. It is both aesthetically interesting and functional. The piece elegantly contrasts with the wooden floor. It also acts as a divider for the apartment while also providing some storage solutions for the client and his partner.
