Iconic Cartoon LEGO Collections

The Official LEGO Simpsons Minifigures are Finally Here

— April 5, 2014 — Life-Stages
The official LEGO Simpsons minifigures are finally here and they are awesome. The characters sell for about $4 a piece and come with one prop each. It’s about time the classic TV series got a LEGO set of its own; at least LEGO took its time and did it right.

The LEGO collection features 16 classic characters as minifigures. The immediate Simpsons family and all their closest compadres are available. With this collection, you can build and reenact plenty of classic Simpsons scenes. Some notable characters are Mr. Burns holding a plutonium rod and a bowl with a three eyed fish, as well as the inclusion of Itchy and Scratchy holding their favorite weapons.
Trend Themes
1. LEGO Collectibles - The release of official LEGO Simpsons minifigures presents an opportunity for LEGO to create collectible sets based on other iconic cartoons.
2. Pop Culture Merchandise - The popularity of the LEGO Simpsons collection highlights the demand for merchandise based on beloved TV shows and movies, opening up opportunities for other franchises to partner with LEGO.
3. Interactive Playsets - The inclusion of props with each LEGO Simpsons minifigure hints at a potential market for interactive playsets that allow children and fans to recreate memorable scenes from their favorite cartoons.
Industry Implications
1. Toy Manufacturing - The successful reception of the LEGO Simpsons collection suggests that other toy manufacturers can capitalize on nostalgic appeal by creating collectible figures based on iconic cartoons.
2. Entertainment Licensing - The demand for official LEGO Simpsons minifigures indicates the lucrative potential of licensing agreements between toy manufacturers and entertainment companies to create merchandise for popular TV shows and movies.
3. Media and Entertainment - The release of the LEGO Simpsons collection demonstrates the market value of extending popular animated franchises into merchandise, encouraging media and entertainment companies to further explore opportunities for cross-promotion.
