Mobile Edge and Maddie Powers, a Chicago based design firm, has launched some retro-fun bags for laptops. The new women's line, CuteBug, features the glamour of yesterday's Hollywood starlets. The men's line, Dig, offers an array of bags each with a sports pulp icon image on the outside of the bag as well as the actual vintage magazine cover printed on the inside lining.
Implications - While consumers constantly crave the newest and most cutting-edge technologies, they seem to enjoy complimenting high-tech gadgets with something more simple and traditional. Products and accessories that have a vintage-inspired design but a contemporary function are going to generate twice as much demand as they combine the new and old together, satisfying all needs of multi-minded consumers today.
