The Jessica Simpson weight gain controversy has had tabloids hissing, Simpson haters snickering, and fans defending the blond singer, resulting in one of the biggest celebrity media stories of the year so far.

Now it’s being suggested by EntertainmentWise.com that the Jessica Simpson weight gain story may have been a planned publicity stunt—after all, look how much attention major fluctuations in weight get stars these days—at least it’s more original that becoming too thin.

Adding to the publicity factor were the A-list stars who defended Jessica Simpson weight gain pictures and accusations, from her sister Ashlee Simpson and ex-husband Nick Lachey, to starlets like Carmen Electra and Kim Kardashian.

Ayman, I agree it's a strange angle, but it isn't mine -- hence the reason I sourced EntertainmentWise. I'm merely reporting on the fact that others in the media are making these types of accusations. I'm leaving my opinion out of this one entirely.

In my opinion, reporting on accusations that have no credibility without clearly stating your take on it makes us part of the problem. There are many vicious rumors and negative stuff that we can 'report' and say, oh its what that source is saying, but we are responsible about what we report, and at the very least should give our take on it and express that it is out of line and absurd (or if you support it), otherwise we are just as negative by spreading such rumors. That is my personal opinion, Jessica Simpson, if you're reading, you know :)

I'll leave that to you, Ayman. I try to stay neutral when it comes to telling a story. That being said, I feel that opinion, personal thoughts and attitude can deeply enrich a story, yet I prefer to omit mine from the body of a story and allow them to be reflected in the comments -- both through my own and those of others.
