We haven’t seen much of Jennifer Hudson since the horrible tragedies that befell her mother, brother and nephew last fall, but the singing superstar made her triumphant return to the stage at Sunday’s Super Bowl 2009.

Faith Hill’s rendition of “America the Beautiful” made a perfect segue into Jennifer Hudson’s singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Hudson’s take on the national anthem was particularly poignant considering her situation, and the star smiled shyly after her performance, relishing every bit of the deafening applause she received.
