During the Iris van Herpen Fall 2013 runway show, viewers were stunned to see two dresses that looked out of this world. These two pieces were grown with the help of magnets.
Iris van Herpen worked in collaboration with Jólan van der Wiel in order to create these outfits. They began the process by making the dresses out of a resin that has metal fillings in it, so it would be conductive to magnetic pressure, and then they slowly began to build the dresses. It was important that the garments still looked natural, and that they were able to move with the body.
In the end, they were able to create two stunning pieces that made the Iris van Herpen Fall 2013 runway memorable.
