Ever since the invention of the camera, photographers have been playing with the effects of light. In the age pf Photoshop and other image aided tools, Russian born photographer Mila Nesterova stands out by creating the tricks and special effects that illuminate her images during the shooting process as opposed to afterwards, for a look that is best described as "painting with light".
For her Bioluminescence series, that opened in London last fall, she paints light as if it is a brush, using different color glowing paints under UVi lasers to create the atmosphere while experimenting with different filters and spotlights. With a background in fashion photography that appeared in Russian Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Grazia, and Cosmopolitan, she now focuses on ultraviolet illuminating shoots with garments from designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Bernard Wilhelm, Pam Hogg, and Lo Rex in which she literally shows them new light with an intergalactic disco quality.
