So much effort has been placed on digitizing art that Iconica’s ingenious act of painting video game characters using traditional tangible means can actually be seen as an innovation. Computer-generated creations like Mario, Luigi, Wario, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Bowser and more now know what it feels like to be physical oil paintings as opposed to just pixels on a home console.

Iconica is an illustrator who's been working within the video game industry for the past 11 years. Rendering digitally on a daily basis as part of his job as Environment Artist, Iconica wanted to return to his roots of traditional painting, but didn’t want to divorce himself from his love of games. As such, he’s mixed business with pleasure and has been churning out photoreal video game and pop culture oil paintings to sate his thirst for analog art.
