Around the streets of Portugal, the inside lids of garbage cans have been adorned with stickers bearing images of a tired looking, older homeless man. Accompanying the image is a tag line that reads, “Help. So that no one has to come here for food.”

This guerrilla marketing campaign for Vitae Shelters by Ambient Media is the type of unexpected shock advertising that’s proven effective in the past. Catching people off guard is often the best way to spread awareness.

and how does this make those that do have to turn to trash cans for food? No one needs pictures in trash cans to notice the growing homeless issue in this or any country. You most likely have someone homeless within a 500 feet of you right now.

and now that I think about it some more, why are they only old men? what about the million plus teens on the street, or single mothers?
