This Fourth of July infographic by compares the costs of the American revolution to the average cost America spends annually on Independence Day celebrations.

The ‘BBQ and Brits’ infographic cleverly looks into how much the total American revolution costed in order to compare that sum to how much Americans spend on average to celebrate the national holiday. According to the infographic, the total revolutionary war costs amount to $2.6 million dollars including the adjusted inflation. On average, Americans spend roughly $6.7 million dollars on fireworks and food to commemorate the American win against the British. That’s roughly 2.7 times more money spent on hamburgers, hot dogs, beer and firecrackers than spent on beating the British! Somehow that isn’t all that hard to believe.
