There are many varieties of flavored potato chips on the market, but most of them come in types like salt and vinegar, BBQ or sour cream and onion. Japanese snack food company Koikeya is diverging far from the norm with a new type of potato chips that boasts a milk flavor.

The milk-flavored potato chips are said to smell and taste like a dairy product. On top of this, the crisps are fortified with additional calcium, which offers a unique way to intake this essential mineral. While potato chips are often identified as junk food that should be avoided, these enriched chips seem not only more novel, but healthier than regular varieties.

Unusual snack food flavors are quite popular across Asia, including potato chips that take on unconventional citrus, ultra-spicy or fruit flavors.
