Unzicker Design is the studio of artist Elaine Unzicker. Her unconventional use of chainmail as an element of designer jewelry and fashion accessories makes her work both eye-catching and unique. Trained as a fine artist, the Ojai, California-based Unzicker became interested in medieval chain mail during her studies. The fluid movement of the mesh allows her to create body-loving art. She combines stainless chain mail with castings of plants to create unique purses, jewelry and wearable metalwork. Her pieces are for sale on her website as well as from select retailers.  After graduate school, I combined the chain mail with the castings of plants to create unique and very wearable jewelry. I am fascinated by the way the mesh flows over the body and how each person wears the jewelry very differently. The jewelry becomes a statement for the wearer and allows them to become what they feel at the moment. It is as if the human body is my stage and the performance takes place when the jewelry is worn.
