Connecticut-based artist Carly Janine Mazur created a collection of female painted portraits that depict true emotional struggles. These expressive images display portraits of nude women who are battling physical barriers. While these images portray a metaphor, they clearly define the emotional exhaustion that is being faced by the woman in each picture.

The series is titled 'Metamorphosis,' which suits the images because each portrait is a unique display of emotional intensity and pure clarity. Some of the painted female images present a woman being engulfed by dark-colored vines. The vines resemble roots, which could symbolize a struggle or ongoing battle for self-acceptance.

The images were created by the artist with a loose set of boundaries, allowing each painting to be interpreted by the viewer at their own discretion.
