Although we've seen fashion helmets on Trend Hunter before, I didn't know we'd be seeing them again this soon, and definitely not on an international catwalk!
Featured at Australian Fashion Week in Sydney were "crash helmets" along with an array of futurism-inspired fashions, heavy on "pod" shapes and metallics like silver. Daniel Avakian was one of these designers, featuring crash helmets paired with long, flowing coats. Very Darth Vader, don't you think?
"The helmets were representative of the rebels and disorder in 'A Clockwork Orange' while I used metallic sheens as these can make women look beautiful," the designer said.
The former tow truck driver realized fashion was his calling, and created this offbeat collection inspired by Stanley Kubrick.
Add a Trends been into sci-fi, Orson Welles, George Lucas, so it was only a matter of time before I based a collection on this," Avakian said.
