You may like to shop because of all the new wardrobe possibilities it offers, but the Emporia Shopping Centre in Malmö, Sweden offers an amazing architectural experience that gives a whole new meaning to going to the mall.
Designed by Wingårdhs as part of a competition-winning plan to revamp the whole area’s housing and office buildings, the new shopping centre features an enormous golden entrance that curves inwards, thereby inviting you to enter its doors. The architects said that “The main idea of our winning competition entry was to hide inward-looking retail behind a wreath of residential and commercial buildings,” according to dezeen.
The Emporia Shopping Centre is one sign that the town of Malmö is quickly growing from an industrial area into a modern forward-thinking city.
