The conceptual 'Elemental' coffee machine is the design work of Leo Torres and maintains a futuristic aesthetic that calls to mind the equipment one might see in a science fiction movie or show. The coffee maker has a stripped-down design that leaves all of the unit's components out in the open as the focal point instead of hiding them behind housing. The user interface pays homage to okudagrams that were originally shown off in Star Trek before spreading out to virtually all kinds of science fiction media.
The conceptual 'Elemental' coffee machine was explained further by Torres who said, "There was limited capacity for physical prototyping, so CAD + simulation software was used to quickly iterate and solve problems with the design. Surprisingly, this actually worked fairly well, at least in this case. Blender mantaflow simulations were used on the CAD models were used to help drive the water channels and filter arrangement."
