Electric Porsche 911 eRUF Model A

Uncomfortable pumping out pollution-emitting sports cars, Ruf Automobile GmbH has taken on the challenge to design an electric Porsche 911. The German Porsche tuning company refers to this eco-sleek model as the eRUF Model A.

Electric cars aren’t an innovation of the future, they are incredible inventions that are already here today. Some are in mass production, like the Tesla Roadster, while others are being manufactured by savvy people who remove gas engines and install batteries themselves. Some use home kits, others figure it out for themselves.

The electric Porsche 911 eRUF Model A “accelerates from zero to 100 kph in less than seven seconds and has a top speed of 225 kph (140 mph),” according to Green Car Congress. “Estimated range per charge is 250 kilometers to 320 kilometers (155-199 miles), depending on performance level, using a 50.72 kWh lithium-ion iron-phosphate pack from Axeon plc.”

The electric Porsche 911 is one of my personal favourite electric car mods. I think Porsche is one of the best auto brands, but my eco-devoted heart could never justify a car that sported luxe aesthetics yet trashed the environment. The electric 911 looks like a darn incredible compromise!

Now if only it came in white…
