While LA Market's new 'Chocolate Double Double Animal' burger may appear meat-based, the creation is one of several deceptively sweet dessert burgers. These unique desserts, created by chef Kerry Simon, look almost identical to normal burgers. However, the 'Chocolate Double Double animal' burger is made up of a chocolate mousse patty, a macaroon bun, and puff pastry fries.
The burger's "patty" is topped with an array of delicious fruits made to look like burger toppings. Strawberries resemble tomatoes while mint leaves act as normal lettuce. The cheese slice on top of the mousse is especially deceiving. What looks exactly like a slide of cheddar is actually a slice of creme fresh.
These dessert burgers look both realistic and exceedingly delicious. After its success at LA Market, perhaps dessert burgers like the 'Chocolate Double Double Animal' will make their way into mainstream restaurants around the globe.
