This incredible, semi-working Death Star model was created by none other than German inventor and tinkerer Patrick Priebe, who has already gained huge legions of fans among geeks and comic book fans for creating incredible laser weapons and DIY gadgets inspired by science-fiction.

This Death Star model is probably not capable of destroying entire planets, like the original Star Wars fictional version, but it is capable of causing some damage by melting metal. It is capable of firing an 84-watt beam that can cut through carbon steel in mere moments. The hole features a cluster of LED lights that cause it to glow from the inside out.

Priebe's DIY Death Star model kills two birds with one stone by shedding light on the wonders of physics while also celebrating a famous science-fiction element.
