David Matellanes is a Madrid-based photographer and creative director who seeks to evoke alluring and surreal dreamscapes with his work. Judging by his recent series, 'Dream Palace,' he has achieved his goal.

Dream Palace is set in a large, worn-down room, reminiscent of a grande, old hotel, focusing on a man and a woman attired in 1920s clothing. The photography moves gradually from fairly normal to fantastically surreal. In the first few photographs, the woman is shown entering the room and being escorted to a chair by the man. She is then depicted sitting in the chair and falling off to sleep. Once asleep, she begins to dream. This is where the series takes a decidedly surreal turn.
