The second-highest box office take of all time, this return of Batman to the screen may be a strategy to cement Heath Ledger’s role as the villainous Joker and secure an Oscar. Christian Bale’s Batman was heralded by critics as the best Batman of the series. ‘The Dark Knight’ was wildly praised for using IMAX cameras to film the fantastic chase and action sequences. Heath Ledger died soon after the filming ended. The movie marketing focused heavily on Ledger’s Joker originally, but was changed after his death.
