While it may sound like a tool for finding the nearest cafe, the Cup of Coffee app is actually a brand new dating platform that uses emojis to help users find their perfect match. Unlike other dating apps, this new service forces users to try and convey their personality with emojis instead of personal pictures.

The Cup of Coffee app works by stripping down the amount of information on each user's profile. Instead of pictures, users are forced to choose an emoji that represents themselves. They can then add a few sentences about activities they enjoy to provide a bit more context for those viewing their profile. The app will not reveal any information about the person's name or gender until both parties have agreed to meet up for a cup of coffee. As the app's website explains, "Cup of Coffee is built on the following premises: Anonymous first, mobile first, fun first, no sign up, and no personal data needed."

While the idea of using emojis to help users connect may sound a bit unusual, the app ultimately offers a different way to approach online dating that is not photo-centric.
