The 'Slash Lamp' concrete lamp design by Dragos Motica is one lighting fixture that's made to break. The Slash Lamp has a cylindrical mesh metal frame that's covered up by concrete. To get at the mesh and expose more light, you can chip away at the concrete, making each pendant light totally unique.
Motica's lighting design was developed for UBIKUBI aRomanian furniture brand. When the lamp is ordered, it ships intact in a paper tube, complete with a ceiling fixture, rope and a rock to help break into the concrete. The lamp is made from fairly inexpensive materials and in doing this, Motica describes that the design of the lamp causes the consumer top question its value.
