Chromecast Audio is the newest and most interesting piece of the very latest line of Chromecast hardware announced by Google at a media event in San Francisco. Google managed to sell well over 20 million Chromecasts over the past few years, and is looking to build on this success by launching a new and improved, upgraded second generation HDMI streaming solution alongside an audio-only number.

The Chromecast Audio is interest because it can be plugged into your existing home speakers via 3.5 millimeter RCA or optical ports. Audio controlled by a phone or tablet can be sent to a Chromecast Audio-connected speaker via WiFi.

This system ensures that audio streaming can be made easier than ever without a significant increase in cost or any compromise whatsoever in fidelity and in true Google fashion, takes the technology forward.
