The Carsten Witte 'More Beauty' Series Lives Up to its Name
Fashion photography rarely achieves the sort of quality found in this Carsten Witte 'More Beauty' series.
The talented Hamburg, Germany-based photographer trained his lens on a number of models painted with unorthodox make up styles that leave the series tittering between conceptual art photography and high-end fashion shoot. Though if one were pressed for definitions, the safer bet would be on the art side.
Like much Carsten Witte work, the photography is focused on a slew of beautiful women who have been styled eccentrically. Owing especially to the make up, each model is reminiscent of a porcelain doll. Their serene, ghostly expressions evoke a gracefulness, which is uneasily betrayed by the fragility of their doll-like aesthetic.
