Talented artist Jamie Vasta recently worked on a project inspired by famous Italian painter Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio in which she gave his notoriously well-known style a modern twist with the addition of glue and glitter. The end result is a series of colorful paintings that incorporate various aspects of mix media and classical techniques.

Vasta's Caravaggio project cleverly incorporated the famous artist's styles and composition techniques with unexpected materials such as glitter. Vasta's illustrations feature a sketch outline of the overall piece that typically incorporates portraits with storytelling. The outlines of the images are then filled in with glue and layered with colorful glitter in a variety of prismatic colors. The work is incredibly detailed and offers a dynamic use of form, shading and composition when drawing the body.
