Burial Trend: Burying loved ones with their cellular phones. Edit

Burial Trend: Burying loved ones with their cellular phones.

Bizarre cultural phenomenons never seize to amaze us. A recent British poll revealed that 2nd on death wish list was being buried with their cellular phones. Third on the list was being buried with their pet.

People are so attached to their cellular phones that for some it’s unimaginable being buried without it.

How dumb it may sound, it’s also a known fact that mourners have called the deceased as the casket is lowered in the grave. Being superstitious, some people even fully charge their loved one’s phones to be placed next to them in the casket, and some even keep paying their cellphone bills. Pardon me, but this begs to ask, uh, “Can you hear me now?”

Eric Allen of Allen Funeral Home in Davison said he has yet to have the request come up, but would be happy to comply. Allen has placed ashes of pets, golf clubs, golf balls and alcohol in coffins. One woman wore a pair of florescent-colored shoes that she loved. Allen said humor helps. What might seem funny or creepy to some can be incredibly meaningful to others. "To each their own," he said. "If it helps them get through a tough time, I'd be happy to help them out." (mlive)
