The Borderstep Institute is based in Berlin, Germany that does research on how to meld economic success with sustainability. The innovations are what they call "future-oriented," which alludes to not only where social entrepreneurship is (and is headed) but also to where business, resource conservation and social goods more generally is tending to lead: toward creating sustainability not only in the natural world but also when it comes to economics.
Some of their ongoing projects include Green Economy StartUp Monitor, Connected Energy - SHAPE, and also looking at classrooms and seeing where sustainable IT projects can be introduced.
The group was co-founded by Dr. Severin Beucke who went to University of Stuttgart and teaches at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg in the Department of Business Administration, Economics and Law.
