At the latest New York Coffee Festival in Manhattan, BKON offered something a little different from its futuristic brewer with molecular rum infusions.
To prove what the future holds for infusing rum with coffee and spices, the BKON machine was stocked with a coarsely ground coffee from Kenya, plus orange peel, anise seed pods, crushed cardamom seeds, cinnamon and clove. Finally, the mixture was combined with rum, which was added to the pressure chamber of the BKON machine.
What this machine is able to do is remove the gases from the molecular structure of a drink and create a coffee-infused rum that's ready to consume in—not days, hours or months—but a matter of minutes before your eyes.
