Barbie is continuing her climb into upscale. This latest Barbie doll won’t go on sale, but it is said to be worth $94,800. Its a promotional item in the for the “Barbie and the Diamond Castle” presentation, which releases on DVD soon. There are 44 round-cut stones, including 318 real diamonds, on her attire. Her entire accessory, a tiara, slippers, earrings, necklace, bracelet and the ring have all been made out diamonds and white gold.  According to Giancarlo Melloni, Barbie brand manager in Mexico, the film, "whose main theme is diamonds," touches on topics important to girls such as "friendship, music and shiny jewels."
The presentation was accompanied by a ballet that reproduced a classic palace dance from fairy tales, featuring a glamourous flesh-and-blood Barbie.
