These hauntingly beautiful images by New York-based photographer Anthony Goicolea take a fashionable approach to commenting on different rituals and customary styles of dress of traditional religious ceremonies. The artist paired with designer Thom Browne to create a glamorized world that mixes high-fashion with typical religous events such as a funeral, a first communion and a wedding, creating scenes that blend truth and fiction in what the artist calls “hybridizations of seemingly recognizable, established, western customs.”

Themes of life, death and rebirth are explored in this surreal imagery that stays with the observer long after viewing these created interpretations of religious societies.
