Using cow dung to fertilize the foods we eat used to have the market cornered on poop-inspired innovations but, as you’ll see below, it doesn’t any longer. My inspiration for this feces-laden cluster came from a story I read at the UK’s Telegraph regarding some rather special collectibles. Catalan Nativity Caganer (defecating) Figurines, sold by Santa Llucia Christmas market in Barcelona, Spain, represent “fertility and equality” and feature world leaders in the perfect squat position needed to release excrement. Statues showing politicians eliminating bodily waste are just one way poop has inspired creativity. Poop street art, painting dog poop pink to promote proper pooper scoopers, poop presents, plastic poop for Barbie, doo-doo doors and windows are just a few of the poopovations you’ll read about in this cluster.
