Tough puzzles impact people in different ways. For some, a tough puzzle is just a goofy game that can be left by the wayside if it proves to be too difficult. For others, any puzzle is a frustrating, often masochistic challenge that can't be dropped until it's solved.

Puzzles are hardly a new concept, with riddles, brainteasers and games dating back thousands of years. As such, it should come as no surprise that there are many varying types of puzzles. Some are classic, like the puzzles that take inspiration from the Rubik's Cube. Others are more original, like the Amaze-A-Ball spherical mazes. Still other puzzles use completely new technology to create a game that literally could not have existed in the past, such as Superhypercube first-person VR puzzle by Kokoromi.

Puzzles' addictive nature can bring consumers hours of fun and frustration, no matter what form they come in.
