For a while, it looked as if wrist watches had lost their appeal, but in recent years, they have begun to make a steady comeback.
Mobile phones and other media devices had subsisted more traditional time pieces, and for a while, many had skipped wearing the wrist accessories altogether.
In the future, my guess is that wrist watches will make a timely return, not as practical time-telling pieces, but as fashion statements that allow people to express their individual styles.
