A PR stunt for the launch of the Splinter Cell game nearly lead to an actor being shot dead for real. The Splinter Cell stunt involved an actor pulling a fake gun on a crowd, which resulted in a call for armed police to come to a busy pub district in Auckland, New Zealand.
How did the people behind the stunt think it would be a good idea?
Naturally, witnesses dived for cover and panic ensued. Fortunately for the actor, police picked up on what was happening and didn't pump the guy full of lead.
Gaming almost got a bit too real!
