London Fashion Week Runway Diversity Includes All Races & Sizes

The fashion times, they are a-changing. The London Fashion Week runway diversity gave us a glimpse of the catwalks of the future: size has no revelance, race is insignificant, and age is only as momentous as the ability to stomp and strut down a straight path several times without rest.
The London Fashion Week runway diversity saw divergences in race—for instance, black models were the only models on PPQ’s Spring 2010 catwalk—as well as changes in the sizing game: three “average size" models were cast for the Mark Fast show. Others saw age as inconsequential—Sykes hired models of all ages, one of whom was 81 years old.
This, of course, is not yet the norm for most fashion shows, but a hint at change is better than nothing. Perhaps designers are finally realizing that their real customers are usually not five foot eleven, 21 years old, 110 pounds and white!
