Brands and advertisements are a large part of society, whether we love or hate it as consumers. In what seems to be a revolt against advertising, Generation Y has begun to play up label-crazy fashion. Using ironically costumed attire they layer on everything from Disney backpacks, to Lego necklaces and Coca-Cola can headbands that make them look like theyre attending a themed event. In another ad on TheCoolHunter.com, a breast-feeding baby appears to be in its birthday suit, but brand and logo tattoos cover its body.
Does this logo-crazy fashion trend display a cynical GenY perspective of advertising, or does the brand-wearing fad, once again, remind consumers that these brands are alive and kicking?
