The Penguin Foundation put cute hipster knits on Phillip Island penguins to help rehabilitate the little guys after the oil spills and leaks. It is all part of their Knits for Nature program.
The penguins were first bathed with soap and water. Then they were dressed in their snazzy outfits.
The woolly outfits are warm and prevent the penguins from cleaning the toxic oil with their little beaks as ingesting it will kill them. The sweaters also help them feel more secure will rehabilitating from the oil spill.
You can sponsor a feathered-friend or if you like making sweaters, you can donate one for the cause! You can help keep a penguin warm, safe and fashionable!
