Enric Rovira is an amazingly talented artisan who makes beautiful edible sculptures out of cocoa products, including these chocolate eggs. Rovira is based in Barcelona but the products are available throughout Europe and the United States.
Look at these sculptures and you’ll quickly realize that they are much more complex than your average chocolate eggs. Rovira melts chocolate, molds individual sections and then proceeds to build each one these chocolate eggs by hand. Once assembled, the chocolate eggs are taken outside to melt in the sun. The chocolate eggs receive just enough sunlight exposure until part of the eggs melt revealing a hole that ranges in size.
This process makes each one of these chocolate egg sculptures unique. The chocolate eggs are then retempered and dusted in another layer of matte coating, leaving the chocolate eggs looking too good to eat. Don’t be fooled though, these are meant to be eaten. Stare at your sculpture for awhile and then dig in because they don’t last forever!
