Recent photographs of students wearing anti-cheating hats during a mid-term exam are creating controversy. The pictures were uploaded to Facebook as a joke and came from a renowned university in Bangkok, Thailand. The headgear are white paper bands with ear-like flaps that hang down to prevent sneaky peripheral glances at their neighbors' work. The bizarre headdresses are reminiscent of horse blinders or Disney's Dumbo.
Teachers at Kasetsart University came under fire for making students wear the anti-cheating hats. However, other students claim they wore them by choice and it was a student who originally suggested the idea. They claimed they were necessary due to the small exam room. Similar box-like honesty enforcers were seen used at Thailand's Civil Aviation Center.
