Japan-based NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories (STRL) has created an emotion-tracking TV designed to track your emotional state and current level of interest with regards to what is on TV. The data is transmitted back to a tablet PC which records, stores and transmits the data back to the watcher.
While the technology is still in its infancy, the emotion-tracking TV could be huge for everyone involved in the television industry, especially commercial marketers. While having your emotions tracked by a TV does sound a little creepy, it is also really cool, especially if that tracking software can help filter out the programs and commercials you have absolutely zero interest in. I wouldn't expect tech like this in TVs anytime soon, but if companies can manufacture 70-inch 3D TVs then they should have no problem (hopefully) installing an emotion tracker.
