32 Drug-Addled Innovations

I remain befuddled by Hersey's ridiculous decision to sell their product in drug wrap-style packaging, so I decided to investigate further. There is no doubt that whatever your views, drugs are a part of today's culture. It is certainly interesting to see just how immersed it has become. From “High Times” calendars to McDonald's coke straws, it seems that drugs are indeed very hard to avoid.

Implications - Using drugs to sell a product does not (usually) endorse harmful behavior, but uses the connotations of escape and bliss that come from these chemicals to appeal to consumers. Contemporary society is looking for new ways of avoiding the monotony of everyday life, and this is one marketing technique that addresses the desire for escapism.
