This Sebastian Seung keynote presents a new model by which one can understand the inner workings of the human mind and what makes each person's thought process unique.
The speaker, a Professor of Computational Neuroscience at MIT, explores how the connection between each neuron in one's brain can be just as important in shaping personality and brain activity as the genome and one's genetic coding. This 'connectome' has 1 million times more connections then than letters in the human genome. As such, the abundance of information carried across these connections is, as he notes, a pivotal factor in understand the processes of the human mind.
He proposes that, although it will take years to test, these connections between neurons are what store human memories and, essentially, makes a person who they are.
