Sunseeker is previewing the X8 Plus robotic mower with EdgeZero 2.0, a border-cutting setup aimed at a zero-inch edge gap so homeowners spend less time returning with a trimmer. Set for Equip Expo 2026, it focuses on the strip along lawn borders that still sends people back outside with another tool.
Network-assisted satellite guidance helps it line up more precisely at the property boundary, which matters because edge cutting only works if the mower can approach the border cleanly. An infrared camera helps the mower share outdoor space with animals, and Sunseeker will show it in Louisville at Equip Expo from October 20 to 23.
The zero-inch edge target turns border cleanup into a core buying test for autonomous mowing. If it works consistently, that feature removes a separate trimming step for property owners and moves robotic mowers from mid-yard maintenance toward full-finish yard work.

What's Driving This Trend
- Zero-gap Edge Care
- Robotic lawn platforms that finish tight borders can shift consumer expectations from partial automation to complete yard maintenance.
- Satellite-guided Mowing
- Network-assisted positioning creates room for premium autonomous mowers that navigate property lines with greater accuracy than basic boundary systems.
- Wildlife-aware Yard Robots
- Infrared sensing in outdoor robots introduces differentiation around safer coexistence with pets, wildlife, and unpredictable backyard activity.
Who This Affects Most
- Lawn Care Equipment
- Autonomous features that remove trimming steps could redefine value in mowers, edgers, and bundled residential yard tools.
- Smart Home Technology
- Connected outdoor maintenance devices expand the smart home beyond indoor convenience into automated property upkeep.
- Landscaping Services
- Full-finish robotic mowing may pressure service providers to integrate automation while focusing labor on higher-value landscape work.
